Mr. Austin died Saturday at Westview Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 29, 1905, in Red River County. He was married to Evie Austin, who died in 1962.
A longtime resident of Memphis, Texas he retired from the Memphis Compress Company after 48 years.
He moved to Odessa 12 years ago from Memphis.
He was a member of the Travis Baptist Church in Memphis.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Crump of Odessa and Mrs. Estelle Crump of Midland; four sisters, Mrs. Mandy Ennis and Mrs. Frona Busby, both of Modesdo, Calif., Mrs. Elavada Liverman of Ballinger and Mrs. Gladys Southard of Vina, Calif.; three brothers, Elbert Austin of Quitaque, Hillie Austin of Modesto and Ray Austin of Mount Pleasant; 12 grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren.

Clifton was the only member of his family (siblings and parents) that could read or write; although it was only at a beginner level. He changed the spelling of his last name from Auston to Austin.
Birth Certificate says he was born in Arlington but he was probably really born in Annona, Texas.
