Mr. Max Edwin Claycomb, 82, retired tool & dye maker, died Saturday, July 11, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Columbia where he made his home the past 6 weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at M.J.S. Mortuary in Redkey, Indiana. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey with military honors provided by the American Legion. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at M.J.S. Mortuary. Born in Redkey, Indiana, he was son of the late Lea Samuel Claycomb and Melba Lucille Walters Claycomb. He was a 1948 graduate of Redkey High School and Ford Motor Company Tool & Dye School. After service in the U. S. Army during World War II and Korea, he worked as a tool & dye maker for Tomkin Tool & Dye Company in Muncie, Indiana.

He was married June 19, 1948 to the former Mary Catherine Chalk. Mrs. Claycomb died June 28, 2000.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Marcia Claycomb of Columbia, Becky (John) Taylor of Cattletburg, Kentucky, Jane (Bob) Reidenbach of Decatur, Indiana, and Susan Smith of Mobile, Alabama; 2 sons, Jack (Ann) Claycomb of Lodi, California and Ted (Vicki) Claycomb of Rydal, Georgia; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Barbara Broadbent of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary (Bill) Reese of Redkey, Indiana, and Carolyn (Ron) Biehl of Parma, Ohio; a brother, Donald (Barbara Jo) Claycomb of Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Rummage and a sister, Wilma Jean Ireland.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
