Wilhelmus Bogart was born 22 Jun 1791.[1] He and Sally Walters were married at the Dutch Reformed Church in Manhasset, New York.[2] In 1815 he moved to Louisiana. In New Orleans he was a partner in the firm Bogart, Foley & Avery (commercial merchants).[3] The firm was located at St. Charles St. south corner & Lafayette Square.[4] On the 1850 and 1860 Federal Census' he was listed as living at same residence with his partner, William H. Avery.[5] [6] On the 1860 census the value of his real estate was $50,000.[7] He died 27 Jul 1869 in New Orleans, Louisiana and is buried in the same tomb as his partner William Avery in Cypress Grove Cemetery New Orleans.[8]
