Andrew Getz Chambers, Sr., age 100, of Alcoa, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Blount Memorial Hospital. After retiring, he and his wife lived for 27 years in Clearwater, Florida before moving back to Blount County. He was a member and past president of Alcoa Rotary and a member of the Alcoa City Commission for several years. Preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Stuart Chambers; parents, James and Bertie Guttridge Chambers; brothers, James Chambers, Jr., Jack Chambers; sisters, Margaret Chambers LaRue, Hilda Chambers Baker, son, Andrew Getz Chambers, Jr. Survivors include his brother, Charles "Snook" Chambers of Alcoa, sister, Betty Chambers Ashe of Mississippi, daughter-in- law, Barbara B. Chambers of Maryville, grandson, Stephen S. and wife, Karen L. Chambers of Texas; great-grandchildren, Rachael Anne Stuart Chambers, Brigette Danielle Chambers, Samantha Kimberly Chambers; step- grandchildren, Duncan W. Sutherland, Douglas M. Sutherland, Anne Sutherland Hugo and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery for the graveside service and interment.
