Isaac Paul Tomlin was the son of David Samuel Tomlin 1788-1850 and Celey Jordan 1808-1858. Born in Fayette Mississippi. In 1853 He married Mary Ann Bull also from Fayette. They had eight children, Silas Monroe Tomlin, Sarah Elizabeth Tomlin Burns, Frances L. Tomlin Burchfield, William Daniel, Della Ann, Georgia Ann Tomlin Townsend, George F., and James E. On one of the records Isaac listed his occupation as "Farm Labor Agent". He enlisted in the Confederate Army during the Civil War serving as a Private in Company K, Mississippi 40th Infantry Reg't, 'Campbell's Guards".
