Henry Cale was born Dec, 4, 1809, died Feb 28,1901, aged 91 years, 2 months, 24 days. He was the youngest child of George and Mary Cale, who emigrated to Ohio, from Hampshire, Va., in the year 1819 and settled for a few years near Byesville and removed to the home where Henry has resided all during his life, in Buffalo township, Noble county, two miles south of Hartford. The Cale family are noted for longevity The father, George Cale, died aged 90 years and all the ten children lived to a ripe old age, ranging from 75 to 91 years, Henry the youngest, living longest of all. Henry was united in marriage with Miss Cordelia Reed in 1831. To them were born eight children, all of whom are living, namely Mary Ann Miller, Sarah Lizzie Cooper, John, George F., Michael, Peter, Louisa Matheny and Priscilla Davis. Mrs. Cale died and in 1888, he was married with Miss Ibey Wilson, to them were born three children, viz: Catharine Davis, who died in 1890; and the others died in infancy. He was married the third time to Miss Eliza, J Murphy, to them were born three children who are yet living. There are living eleven children, thirty three grandchildren, fifty six great grand children and one great-great grandchild, thus he lived to see the fifth generation. Although at times during the past two years, he suffered much, he was always patient and uncomplaining. When the end came he was ready to depart and died peacefully.



Aged 90 Years. The venerable Henry Cale died at his home in Buffalo township, Noble county, two and one-half miles south-east of Hartford, Thursday night, Feb. 28th, 1901, aged 90 years. He was one of the oldest and best-known residents of this part of Ohio. He leaves a wife and a number of children now well advanced in years. Funeral services will be held on Sunday. March 8; interment in Mt. Zion cemetery.
