Seffie was born to: James Asbury Clayton and Marietta Celestia Crook Clayton. She died at the age of eleven years old from a lightning strike while in the families log home. She was standing with her hand on the foot of a metal bed. Her sister, Lillie 15 was seated on the bed with her legs touching the metal.
