Funeral services for Dr. Donald O. Rogers of Cheneyville, La., were held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in the Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home Chapel in Bunkie, La. Graveside service preceding interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, in Manley Cemetery in Christian County, Missouri. Dr. Rogers died June 30, 2008, in his family home following a long illness. He was born on October 9, 1938, in Christian County Missouri. Dr. Rogers served in the U. S. Navy from 1957 until 1959. He was later employed by Louisiana State University as a faculty member and administrator from 1968 until 1999. He was appointed Professor Emeritus upon his retirement in 1998. Dr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Onis Lee Rogers and Wilma Gideon Rogers of Christian County, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Mora Jeannine Stowe Rogers of Cheneyville, La.; a son, Donald Scott Rogers of Lafayette, La.; a daughter, Anne Rogers Reynolds of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Katherine Mary Rogers, Donald Richard Rogers, Kenneth Michael Rogers and Caleb John Reynolds; one brother, Gerald Lee Rogers of Springfield, Mo.; and two sisters, Loretta Schieffer of Oxnard, Calif., and Delores Ann Jantz of Springfield, Mo.
