ANOTHER PIONEER CITIZEN IS DEAD
Aged War Veteran Died At the Soldier's Home Last Night
George W. Barlow, a Dodge City pioneer, died at the Ft. Dodge Soldier's Home last evening at 5:45 o'clock.
Funeral services will be conducted by Chaplain J.W. Crouch from the chapel at the home Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and burial will be made at Maple Grove cemetery west of Dodge City.
Two years ago Mr. Barlow suffered serious injuries to one of his hips in a fall. After a time he partially recovered from the trouble but a little more than a week ago he became dangerously ill again and remained in that condition until the end came last evening. He was unconscious for nearly a week before his death.
Mr. Barlow came to Dodge City in the early '70's and has lived in Ford county ever since. For about twelve years he was engaged in the furniture and undertaking business with H.B. Bell. About twenty years ago he was admitted to the Soldier's Home at Ft. Dodge and has made his home there since that time.
Mr. Barlow is well known to all the older residents of this place and his death will be sincerely regretted by many warm friends.
He leaves his widow, three daughters and two sons. Two of the daughters, Mrs. W.M. Riley of Denver, and Mrs. Anna Cornelson of Cherryvale are here. The other daughter, Mrs. Charles Ritsch of Milwaukee is expected to arrive Wednesday morning. One son, G.W. Barlow, Jr. of New York City, will be unable to come in time for the funeral. The other son, J.J. Barlow of the H. Juneau lumber yard, is an industrious young man who has a large acquaintance among local people.
Mr. Barlow is survived also by two brothers and three sisters, all of whom are residents of New York City.
