OBIT" "Palmer L. Blote passed peacefully February 11, 2008, with his wife, Irene, and daughter, Shannon by his side. Paul was a skilled Electrical Contractor and established Palmer Electric of San Carlos. "Paul" was known as an avid pilot and a dedicated golfer. A Memorial will be held at
11 a.m., Sat, March 8, at Spangler Mortuary, 650 Live Oak Ave, Menlo Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Let Them Hear Foundation, 1900 University Ave, Ste 101, E. Palo Alto, CA 94303."

"Big Paul" (as his son was Paul L, but not Jr), as he was called was first married to my Mother in 1952 at The First Christian Church in Redwood City, California.
They were both graduates of Sequoia H.S., 1951 and 1953, respectively. Soon after their wedding he enlisted
in the Air Force as his older brother "Skip" had done,
who was already in Germany working on repairing airplanes.
He already had the love of airplanes, and the romance
of flying; he attended Basic Training at Parks AFB, 1953. I know they lived briefly in Texas and by Spring of 1954 had their first son, Paul Louis Blote at Travis AFB, in Fairfield, CA. Brother Patrick came along just two years later, after son Paul was having some medical issues.
By the time I came along we were a family living in Mountain View, California. The family made good friends
in Sunnyvale, The Killmartin's, & Al & Pauline Sanchez, neighbors in Mountain View, & The Balestrero's in San Carlos. Family moved to Belmont, San Mateo County, California in 1964, where we lived until 1968 when they divorced after sixteen years of marriage and had three children in this union.

Soon after he started Palmer Electric in San Carlos and became a skilled Comm'l Electrical Contractor working at sites all over the Bay Area. After marrying his current wife in 1977 (I was 17) he enjoyed his first granddaughter who born to his son Paul & Sherril.

He 'focused on what he could do' and always had hobbies to entertain himself, including model airplanes at R.C. Airplane Club. Later he upgraded and flew as a private pilot, a life-long hobby. Once he took me up in his biplane but I couldn't take it. I'm remembering that he
had sinus problems, like myself, and often wore a cotton ball in his ear. Funny the things we remember from childhood. I he truly loved flying his airplane. He
was a classic car collector, he was always working on
some car project, men's softball teams, and racing mini cars to pinball machines and of course, golf. Finally, this'Kareoke King", was dubbed by his grandaughter.
He had a great voice, and he could whistle like a bird.
Both his son Paul, myself and grandaughter were professional singers.

These are just some of the memories that come to mind as
I was thinking of my Father. Perhaps you have your own memories to share you may add them at "add flower".
I will be collecting family photographs for
my Blote Family Tree on Ancestry; if you'd like to contribute (digital or originals), please contact me,
I'd love hearing from you.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my Father.
I'm sorry I didn't get to see him one last time, I didn't know he had even been ill but having "trouble breathing". His own father, Erwin, died of Emphysema; I've lived with Asthma/Allergies since I was four. Never-the-less we are going to go on and keep on "singing a happy tune" and sharing the Blote "grin" as it's come to be known over
the years.

Love You, Miss You, Always, Beth
