Accused Murder. An immigrant bricklayer, he was thrust into the public eye in 1939 when he was arrested for being Cleveland's "Torso Killer". The serial killings occurred during the mid to late 1930s in an area of Cleveland called Kingsbury Run. At least twelve people were found decapitated and dismembered in various dump sites around the area. One of the dump sites was within the window view of Eliot Ness' office. Ness also had the area bulldozed to limit the potential victims for the killer. Dolezal had lived with Flo Polillo, who was one of the victims of the Torso Killer. Another of the victims hung out in a bar that Dolezal frequented. Dolezal confessed to the crimes after intense interrogation. However, as the police began to investigate his confessions, they found there to be no case against Dolezal based on his confessions. Just days before his trial, he was found dead in his jail cell of an apparent suicide. In Aug 2010, Frank Dolezal was exonerated of the killings and it is believed that he was murdered in jail and did not commit suicide.
