OBITUARY:
Domenic Q. Abate, 87, of 1012 Basilone Drive died the morning of Friday, February 3, 2006 in Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born May 24, 1918 in New Castle, PA and was the son of the late Beneditto and Angeline Reale Abate.
He married the former Bette Hassan on June 4, 1949. He retired in 1975 from B&O Railroad. He was a Brakeman and Flagman. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran of World War II, serving with the 6th Marine Division in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the VFW Post 315 and a member of the American Legion Post 343. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and bocce participating in many local leagues. He was a member of AARP, the Cultural German Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by two daughters Gaylene Lynn Beard & her husband Howard of Davidsonville, MD and Karole J. Guy & her husband Ronald Jack of Wampum, PA; four grandchildren Bryan Guy, R.J. Guy II, Jessica Beard and Jonathan Beard; five brother-in-laws Robert L. Hassan of Florida, Eugene K. Hassan of New Castle, PA, Dr. James C. Hassan of Washington, D.C., Albert L. Hassan of California and Charles J. Hassan of Georgia; one brother James Abate of Niles, OH and two sisters Bea Pratt of California and Mary Jane Testa of California.

He was preceded in death by one brother Joseph Abate and two sisters Dolly Banawitz and Sarah Abate.
