Theodore F. "Bud" Kailing of Reed City, Michigan, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac. He was 83 years old.

Bud was born February 2, 1920 near Reed City to Theodore and Kathryn (Fitzharris) Kailing. He married Mary Jane Deacey on July 4, 1944. He lived his entire life in the area, except for a few years traveling and living in Oregon near family.

Bud had been a farmer and later was employed by Costal Gas, also called El Paso Gas, for 19 years. He retired in 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; sons, John and Steven, both of Reed City; daughters, Mary Lou (Thomas) Swincicki of Reed City, Linda Odren of Howard City, Jean (Dr. Marvin) Sakakihara of Napa, Calif., Marcia (Ron) Tripp of Salem, Ore., Debora Kailing of Pleasanton, Calif. and Cynthia (John) Kirby of Gaylord; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
