He grew to manhood on his father's ranch, and on April 11, 1909, was married to Anna Painter. To them were born six children. All their married life was spent in Keya Paha County except for a few years on a ranch in Todd County, S.D. and a short time in Valentine where he worked as a mechanic. They returned to Springview where he continued to work as a mechanic and operated a maintainer and helped with road construction in the county. After his retirement to the ranch southwest of Springview, he remained there until he entered the Bethel Nursing Home five years ago.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna in 1955 and by one grandson. Survivors include five sons, Clyde, Earl and Rex, Casper, Wyo., Elden and Glen, Springview, and one daughter, Mrs. D.E. (Opal) Osborn, Hay Springs; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Mar. 22 at the United Methodist Church in Springview with Rev. Howard Dixon officiating. Harvey Neal was soloist, Mrs. Doris Weddel, organist. Paulbearers were John E. Weston, Glen Hallock, Paul Eichenberger, Dean Maryott, Edwin Thiede, and Ivan Chase. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Springview.
