He married Janet Tanch 17 Dec 1826 in Clackmannan. They came to the US in 1852 on the "Statira Morse" with children Robert, John, William & Isabella. Sons Alexander and James Tanch came to the US separately.
They lived in NY State near Rochester until at least 1856, then moved to KS.
In Scotland, Robert, had been a collier, laborer and 'spirit dealer'. In KS he was a farmer.
This gravestone is 4-sided. Robert & Janet's information is on 2 of the sides - 3rd is their former daughter-in-law, Susan C (Foote) Stalker McGuire - and A. Alex Stalker, possibly a son of Susan and her 1st husband, James Tanch Stalker.
