Woman Found Dead In Stalled Auto Declared Suicide
The dead body of a woman was found Thursday by Portland salesmen in a car stalled in the snow on a logging road about two miles above the Lulay Bros. camp, southeast of Scio. Sheriff Mike Southard, Deputy Sheriff George Miller and Deputy Johnson checked the case with Coroner Glenn Houston the latter of whom releases the following information.
The woman, Mrs. Anne Richard Blaylock, 31, of Lacomb, committed suicide by running a garden hose from the exhaust into the car. Death from asphyxiation occurred at 11 a.m., the coroner estimated.
Huston said that Mrs. Blaylock left her family home in the family car at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday and disappeared. Her husband thinking she had gone to visit relatives in Washington, also left for that place.
A seven-foot length of hose was plugged into the exhaust pipe and was run through the trunk of the car into the back seat. The trunk lid was propped open with a shovel.
Mrs. Blaylock left no note.
Mrs. Blaylock was born at Tenino, Wash., Nov 18, 1920, and has lived at Lacomb since 1941. She was a member of Royal Neighbors.
Funeral was set at Huston Funeral Home in Lebanon at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with internment at the IOOF cemetery. The Rev. Harvey J. Schmidt of the First Presbyterian church of Lebanon, officiating clergyman.
Surviving Mrs. Blaylock are her husband, Ben Blaylock, whom she married July 3, 1937 in Olympia, Wash.; two children, Bonnie, 9 and Peter, 5; her mother, Mrs. Clara Yunker, Lacy, Wash; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Cramer, Centralia, Wash., and Mrs. Lillie Stevenson, Clearwater, Wash.
