T.C. Clifton of McGregor, a retired painter, died Wednesday in Waco. He was 89.

Services will be 2pm today at First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Barbara Lucas officiating. Burial will be 4pm at Moore Cemetery, north of Waco.

Mr. Clifton was born March 24, 1903, in Hillsboro. He was a Waco painter for more than 40 years and a lifelong resident of McLennan County. He married Estelle Coker on Dec. 18, 1927. She died Dec 20, 1991. Mr. Clifton was a former member of Brookview Methodist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors: two daughters, Mrs. John (Mary Ann) Hodde and Joan Shelburn, both of McGregor; two sisters, Jewel Brown of Waco and Louise Shaw of CA; a brother, W.D. Clifton of Waco; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
