In the Spring of 1853 he came to CA, arriving in Shasta Co, in the fall of the same year. He remained there four months, then moved to Contra Costa Co, where he farmed until 1857. He then came to Sonoma Co and settled on his 200 acre farm north of Windsor.
He was a prominent man in the affairs of Sonoma Co, having been elected Supervisor of the Third District in 1888 and filled the office with great credits to himself and to the people of Sonoma Co.
