Orval Vern Taylor was born in and lived in Boone County, Indiana his whole life. After his marriage to his wife, Bertha Bright (McDaniel) on September 27, 1908 (they were married at the McDaniel Homestead, 1 mi. north of Dover, Jefferson Township, Boone County, Indiana, the home of his wife and his father and mother-in-law) Orval and his wife moved to a home on St. Road 32 between Dover and Lebanon. He lived there until his death. Orval and Bertha had four children: Anna Ellen (Taylor) Poynter, Bessie Viola (Taylor) Rice, Leo James Taylor, and Elizabeth Ruth (Taylor) Ginn. Orval died of a heart attack.

Orval's obituary was published in the Lebanon Reporter (Lebanon, IN) on 15-Nov-1963 on pg. 4:

"Orval Taylor Heart Victim - Orval Vern Taylor, 76, Rt. 3 Lebanon, died at his home near Dover of a heart attack at 4 p.m. Thursday. He had been in ill health a year.
Mr. Taylor, who farmed in Boone County all his life, was a member and deacon of the Dover Christian Church and a member of the Farm Bureau.
A native of Boone County, he was the son of Lon and Mary Caldwell Taylor and was born September 22, 1887. He was married September 27, 1908 to Bertha McDaniel, who died December 23, 1947.
Four children survive: Mrs. Anna Poynter of Rt. 2 Jamestown, Mrs. Bessie Rice of Jamestown, Leo Taylor of Route 3 Lebanon and Mrs. Elizabeth Ginn of Route 2 Thorntown. A brother, Ray, preceded him in death. A sister died in infancy. There are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. One grandchild is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Dover Christian Church, with the Rev. Herbert Swearingen officiating, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Duff. Burial will be in the Dover Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Russell & Hitch Lebanon Funeral Home."
