Eric L. Fairchild, 81, of Lower Allen Twp., passed peacefully at his home on July 7, 2008.
He was a World War II Army Veteran who had deep respect for the United States flag.
A self made businessman who founded Central Credit Control and other businesses, Mr. Fairchild had a keen mind and great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed driving a red Morgan roadster in the 1960's and serving as an official in the PA Department of Agriculture in the 1970's.
Born October 13, 1926 in Bogalusa, LA, he was the son of the late Eric and Hattie Fairchild.
He dearly loved his mother and was the first in his family to graduate from college at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Lois J. (Yost) Fairchild; daughters, Claire Lowder and her husband, Larry of Wayne, PA, and JoAnn Fairchild of Chestertown, MD; sons, Eric Y. Fairchild and his wife, Sharon Heagy of Mechanicsburg, PA and Mark H. Fairchild of Camp Hill, PA; and four happy grandchildren.
A memorial service for Eric will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, 228 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070. There will be no viewing or visitation.
