OBITUARY
Emeline Anderson Pratt Wood, the daughter of Truman & Rebecca Pratt, was born in New Vinyard Town, Penobscot Co., Maine, May 24, 1833. At the age of fourteen, she was left an orphan and then made her home with a Methodist minister, by the name of Lathrop, who soon moved to Fond du Lac, Wis. On September 17, 1848, she was united in marriage to Peter H. Wood, who preceded her to Heaven on February 11, 1904. To this union were born sixteen children, nine of whom are living. They are: David, Charles, Frank, Leonard, and Mrs. M. S. Reynolds of Delavan; Serphrenes of Hillman, Minn.; De Forest, of British Columbia; Silas of Winfield, Kans., and William of Mankato. In the spring of 1866 they moved to the old home farm in Lura township, where they resided until the fall of 1895, when Mr. and Mrs. Wood moved to Delavan, where they lived for two years. They then moved to Blue Earth. In 1901 they bought what was called the Kauder place, near the old home farm where they lived until Mr. Wood died. After that Mrs. Wood made her home with Mrs. Reynolds up to January, 1922. Then she went to the home of her son, Charles. Last August she went to live with Mrs. Henry Wood, at Lakefield, Minn., where she died on May 24, 1923, on her ninetieth birthday.
At the age of fifteen she was converted and joined the M. E. Church. Her faith in God was strong to the end. Some of her last words were: "Glory Hallelujah! I am going home." Her prayers were unceasing for her children and
the cause of God. For a few years she had been obliged to give up active work. Yet her hands were never idle but always engaged in knitting or sewing for others. It can truly be said of her, "She hath done what she could."
The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church, Sunday afternoon, May 27, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Harry Bossuet officiating. Interment was made in the Lura Lake cemetery.
