Larrie Mark Stephenson, 71, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday morning, November 11, 1941, at about 11:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Boone, of Smith Creek.

Born November 1, 1870, at Cross Creek, Washington County, Mrs. Stephenson was a son of the late Matthew and Elizabeth Jones Pascal Stephenson. He received his early education at Cross Creek Academy and graduated from Duffs Business College, Pittsburgh. On November 18, 1896, he married Bella Cook, who preceeded him in death January 25, 1934.

Prior to coming to Waynesburg in 1899, Mr. Stephenson was employed at Frankfort Springs by the Ohio Valley Gas Company. In that year he accepted a position as an engineer at the compressing station of the Carnegie Natural Gas Company, east of Waynesburg. He served in that capacity until 1910 when he was made chief engineer and continued until April 18, 1938, when he was retired. Since then he has lived at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Boone, of Smith Creek.


Mr. Stephenson was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a 32nd degree Mason, being a member of the Waynesburg Lodge No. 152, of which he was a past master, Pittsburgh Consistory, and Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia.

Surviving are the following children: Reed Cooke Stephenson, Larrie Edwin Stephenson, Matthew Middleton Stephenson, William Glenn Stephenson and Mrs. Jane Boone, wife of Lloyd Boone, all of Waynesburg. Twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive, in addition to one sister, Mrs. T. E. Dunbar, of Burgettstown.
