Bill, a lifelong resident of Ralls was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. He worked for the post office in Lubbock and then served as postmaster of the Ralls post office for many years. Bill was former scout master of the Ralls Boy Scouts and served on the board of review. He was a member of Emma Masonic Lodge #931, the Ralls Rotary Club and a former member of the Ralls EMS. He was a former little league baseball coach and was a football official for 25 years. Bill was an Air Force veteran of WWII.
Survivors include; his wife, Norma of Ralls, a son and his wife, Perry and Melissa Ashcraft of Ralls, a daughter and her husband Marcy and Steve Woods of Paris, mother-in-law, Bea Surratt of Ralls, a sister Sarah Roden of Ralls, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Ken McCool, Billy Edwards, Jimmy Moore, Scott Gilbreath, Tom Blair, Jacob Blair, Jesse Ramirez and J. D. Silva, and honorary pallbearers; Matthew Ashcraft and Michael Woods.
