COLBERT, Okla. - Funeral services for Goldie Gower, 103, of Colbert, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ronnie Harris will officiate, and burial will be in Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
She died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Colbert.
Mrs. Gower was born March 21, 1905, the daughter of Gaither and Louisa Phelps Taylor. She married Clarence Victor Gower on July 29, 1926, in Sherman.
Mrs. Gower loved quilting and playing 42 dominos at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of Colbert. She came to Oklahoma as a small child in a covered wagon from Kentucky.
Surviving are her son, Bob Gower and wife Oraline of Colbert, Okla.; granddaughters, Sandy Powell and husband Danny of Colbert, Okla., Debbie Black and husband Barry of Denison, Texas, Bobette Blackshear and husband Sid of Colbert, Okla., and Vicki Beal and husband Terry of Colbert, Okla.; great-grandson, Brandon Powell and fiancee Adrienne Taylor of Colbert, Okla., Dustin and Christina Powell of Rowlett, Bobby and Rachel Beal of Denison, Jordan Poteet and Victor Beal, both of Colbert, Okla., Colin Black and Evan Black, both of Denison, and Jesse Walker of Ada, Okla.; great-granddaughters, Courtney and Justin Clement, both of Pottsboro, and Elise Beal of Colbert, Okla.; great-greatgrandchildren, Morgan Beal of Pottsboro, and Ashton Powell of Rowlett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, "Vic" Gower; parents, Gaither and Louisa Taylor; and brothers, Roy, Clarence, EC, Hubert and Claude Taylor.
