Evelyn M. Balmer, 80, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Moravian Manor. She was the wife of Donald R. Balmer. They celebrated their 57th anniversary on June 30, 2008.

Born in West Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late J. Amos and Katie Boose Martin. Evelyn had worked at the former B&G Shoe Factory, Lititz, for 35 years. She was a graduate of the former Rothsville High School, class of 1946.

Evelyn was a member of the Lititz Wesleyan Church and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Brickerville. She served both churches as a Sunday School teacher and a Vacation Bible School teacher. In previous years, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brunnerville Fire Co. and the John Beck Elementary School PTA.

She had an exceptional memory and was regarded as an esteemed historian by her family and friends. She enjoyed her church, family, baking, crafts and crossword puzzles. Evelyn's love of games and puzzles created an interest commonly shared by many family members.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Barbara Vazquez and her companion Jeffrey Rote, and Anita Rowe and her husband Barry, both of Lititz; a sister, Gladys Hostetter and her husband Floyd of Lititz; six grandchildren, Cory DeLancey, Autumn Nauman, Jason DeLancey, Nathan Rowe, Christy Aument and Evy Vazquez; three great-grandchildren, with twins due at the end of summer. She will also be missed by seven special friends whom she held close to her heart. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Seppi and Miriam Hollinger.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evelyn's Life Celebration from the Lititz Wesleyan Church, 540 E. Newport Road, Lititz, PA on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 7:30 PM with the Reverends Daniel Cloyd, Donald Moyer and Ivan Lutz officiating. Interment will be at 3 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Brickerville United Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.

Friends may call at Lititz Wesleyan Church on Friday from 6 PM until time of service.
