Thomas served as a 2nd Lt. and pilot of AT-10BH (#41-27032), 679th Basic Flight Training School, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Lewis County, New York prior to the war.

He was stationed at the Bainbridge Army Airfield, Georgia.

Thomas died in the "Line Of Duty" when the plane he was piloting crashed three miles west of Cairo, Georgia during the war.
