LAKE BUTLER - MABEL BRANNEN WATERS HODGES, 91, of Lake Butler died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Shands at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness.

Born in Lake Butler, Mrs. Hodges lived in Lulu, Lake City and Whitehouse before returning to Lake Butler. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church of Lake Butler.

Mrs. Hodges is survived by: a sister Rettie Mae Parrish of Lake Butler; five step-sons, Wilford Hodges of Denver, Del., David, Gary, Cecil and Tony Hodges, all of Jacksonville; a step-daughter Lavon Cadle of West Virginia; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ernest Waters and Frazier Hodges and a son Harry Charles Waters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hodges were Oct. 14, 2003 in Mt. Zion Swift Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Lake Butler with Elder Jimmie Thornton and Elder Jimmy Brannen officiating with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler.
