Leah Berniece Gibson of St Clair was born on June 17, 1927, at Centerville, MO, the daughter of the late Elmer Boudon Banks and Emma Elizabeth Banks nee Hasty. On Nov 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Herman Gibson, and seven daughters came to bless this union. Leah died on July 10, [1991], having reached the age of 62.
She is survived by her husband Herman Gibson of St Clair;by seven daughters, Barbara sue Fallbeck and husband Richard of St Charles, Betty Lou Thomas and husband James of Luebbering, Wanda Lee Creath and husband Gene of Fenton, Sally Ann Wyatt and husband Bud of Poplar Bluff, Janet Kay Trice of Arnold, Joyce Elaine Maupin and husband Thomas of St Clair, Tammy Gail Kelso and husband Robert of St Clair; by three brothers, Oscar Banks and wife Alice of Valley Park, Leroy Banks and wife Rosella of Fenton, and Carl Buxton and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, IA; by one sister, Margaret Blackburn and husband Robert of Lakeside, CA; by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Williams and Eula Jones.
Leah was a member of the Baptist faith. Prior to moving to the St Clair area, she had been a member of the Manchester Heights Baptist Church in Manchester. She had enjoyed visiting various Baptist Churches in the area and had most recently visited the St Clair Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held July 13 at the Russell colonial Funeral Home in St Clair with the Rev Phil Rector officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens near Union.
