He was born in Portland, Ore., to Walter Andrew and Emily (Morisette) Bain.
From 1935 to 1956, he served in the Navy, retiring as a chief petty officer.
He married Helen Gango in Tigard, Ore., on Aug. 17, 1941. She died Nov. 29, 2001.
Mr. Bain, who was formerly employed by the Clallam County Assessor's Office, also volunteered with the Clallam County Sheriff's Department.
He was an avid fisherman.
He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Russell and Sarah Bain of Honolulu, John and Dorothy Bain of Sacramento, Calif., and Jim and Ali Bain of Connor, Mont.; son Paul Bain of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Marcia and George of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by brothers Ed and Ken, and sisters Doris and Evelyn.
Services: Private service will be later. Burial was in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
