She was born September 11, 1924 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of the late Harry E. and Nellie (Garrison) Roberts. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City where she attended West Ward School and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1942.
On May 30, 1943 she was united in marriage to Homer Hively. They made their home in Wollaston, Ma. Homer died unexpectedly December 5, 1944. She returned to Columbia City. On February 5, 1947 she married Robert Miller. They made their home in Columbia City moving Fort Wayne in 1959 and Kokomo in 1967. Mr. Miller died in 1992.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked in retail stores throughout her work career including Kroger, Columbia City, Eaveys Grocery, Fort Wayne, Jeffway Carwash, Kokomo and 14 years with Hills Department Store, Kokomo.
She loved her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was an avid euchre player and always was ready for a game.Surviving are her two sons, Terry E. (Loraine) Hively, Fort Wayne and Bryan “Tim” Miller, Fort Benton, MT; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and a sister, Ruth Beers, Columbia City.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Nathan, George, and Eugene Roberts and four sisters, Eloise Kyler, Mary Katherine Groves, Levon Przebindowski and Marie Benton.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City. Grandson, Minister Kit Miller, Fort Benton, MT, officiating. Arrangements are by Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
