Alburtus Claud (sic) Lanham, Nora, died Saturday, June 28, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 25 days.

"Buck," as he was known, was born November 3, 1918, northeast of Nora, the son of Benonie H. and Elsie M. Pester Lanham. He was baptized and confirmed in the Nora M.E. Church. He attended grade school at Nora until the age of 8 when his parents moved to the farm two miles south of Nora. He finished grade school at Sunnyview School. After graduating from Nora High School, he served his country during World War II in the 32nd Armored Regiment of the United States Army from January 24, 1942, until October 26, 1945, when he was honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade.

After leaving the service, he returned to the family farm to live with his parents where he engaged in farming the remainder of his life.

He was a lifetime member of the Nelson V.F.W. He also belonged to the American Legion Post at Nelson. Buck enjoyed bowling and playing cards with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his nephews and nieces.

His is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Survivors are his two brothers, Victor Max Lanham of Nelson and Earl A. Lanham, Nora; one foster sister, Mrs. Soren (Grace) Thomsen, Superior; nephews and nieces; cousins; and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Nora, Nebraska with Dr. Paul Samuelson officiating. Music was provided by Melba Lynch, organist, playing hymns "Abide With Me" and "I Know Not What The Future Hath." Casketbearers were Dale Adamson, Mike Thayer, Leon Elsey, Gerald Biltoft, Doug Muehlich and Alvin Epley. Burial was in the Nora Cemetery with full military rites given by the V.F.W. and American Legion Posts of Nelson, Nebraska. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.
