Mr. Taylor was born on February 1, 1925 in Russton, TX. He was the son of Charlie and Iva Jones Taylor and one of twelve children.
Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer. Following his service time he lived and worked in Texas, and California. In 1976 Mr. Taylor traveled 3,800 miles from California to Maine to marry his wife Lenore Adams Welch. While making Maine his home he began work at Prime Tannery as a forklift operator until retiring in 1987.
Together Mr. & Mrs. Taylor traveled the continental United States from coast to coast. In his down time Mr. Taylor enjoyed woodworking, especially crafting some fine picture frames. He was a member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church; where he served as trustee in 1978. Mr. Taylor was also a member of the Springvale Masonic Lodge #190, the York County Shrine Club, Scottish Rite-Valley of Portland, the Kora Temple, and the Ruth Chapter # 14 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving is his wife Lenore Adams Welch Taylor of Springvale, 4 sons, Bob and Jack of Carson City, NV, Kenneth and Larry of Madera, CA, a stepson Mark E. Welch of Miami, FL, a brother Leon of Dennison, TX, a sister Freda Langford of Pampa, TX, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
On Saturday January 4, 2003 friends and family are invited to attend an 11:00 AM memorial service for Mr. Taylor at the Pleasant St. Free Baptist Church in Springvale.
