JUDGE JOSEPH RINGO was one of three judges appointed by the Governor when Adair Co., MO was formed in 1840. In 1865 Judge Ringo, his wife and two sons, Herbert and Joseph, along with their families, made the journey to Oregon, arriving in September of that year at Oregon City, Clackamas Co. The wagon train was led by his daughter-in law's father, Joseph Dameron Knight. The family settled at Ringo Point, Clackamas Co., which was named for the family, later being called Clarke.
