EAST WENATCHEE - Clyde A. Brown, 74, a resident of East Wenatchee for 28 years, died Wednesday, May 4, 1994, in Central Washington Hospital.

He was born Sept. 22, 1919, to William Henry and Idella Mae (Bodine) Brown at Tyrone, Okla. He spent his early years in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona, before moving with his family to the Yakima Valley in the mid-1930s. He attended Cowiche High School where he played baseball. Following high school, he joined the National Guard.

He transferred to the U.S. Army in March of 1941. He served during World War II in the South Pacific with the 41st Infantry, Sunset Division, in the South Philippines, Australia and Papua New Guinea.He was honorably discharged in October of 1945 and returned to Yakima.

He went to work for Bell Wyman Auto in Yakima as an auto body repairman and mechanic.

He moved to Tacoma in 1960, and the following year moved to Wenatchee. He worked as a mechanic for Jones Pontiac in Wenatchee which later became part of Wells and Wade. Mr. Brown worked for Wells and Wade as a maintenance mechanic.

He married Daphyn L. Floyd on Sept. 3, 1965, at Chelan, where they lived for a year while Mr. Brown commuted to Wenatchee. They moved to East Wenatchee in 1966.

Mr. Brown retired from Wells and Wade in 1982 after 18 years.

He attended Our Saviors Lutheran Church in East Wenatchee. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Post No. 17, and the Wenatchee Senior Citizens Center.

He is survived by his wife of East Wenatchee; two sons, Howard Floyd and Edward Floyd, both of East Wenatchee; four daughters, Linda Holmes and Louana Morgan, both of Wenatchee, and Patricia Brown and Rebecca Barrett, both of Yakima; a brother, Roy of Amarillo, Texas; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant grandson.
