Graveside services for Mrs. Nettie Niemann, 97, of Shreveport will be held today at 2:00 p.m. in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Brother Wayne Fussell, pastor of Midway Church of Christ.

Mrs Niemann was born in Many, LA on July 8, 1906. She passed away on Friday, October 3, 2003 at Christus Schumpert Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a retired telephone operator, a lifetime member of Eastern Star Chapter 561 of Long Beach, CA and a member of Midway Church of Christ. Mrs Niemann lived her long loving life in Louisiana, Illinois and California and has resided in Shreveport since June 1979.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Stella and James Batson; her husband, Louis Niemann; a son Billy who died and was buried in Holland during WWII; brothers, Al Batson, Young, Jack, "Hoot" and Amos Rains; sisters, Stella and Mattie Pearl Batson, Lillian, Irene, Stella and Leola "Rains"; a sister-in-law, Bea Batson; and a nephew Bob Batson.

She is survived by nieces Gail Walton and husband Rodney, Mary Hilton and husband, Lee and Connie Batson; nephews, Jim Batson and wife, Marie and Mickey Batson and wife Dorothy; great nieces and nephews, Jason and wife Cassie, Chad and wife Rebecca, Wade, Lee IV and wife Debbie, Daelene, Kevin, Karry, Billy, Jeremiah, Sarah, Tammy, Carol, Cheryl and Catherine; great great nieces and nephews, Arielle, Zachary, Gage, Courtney, " Little" Zach, Sam, Josh, Hannah, Yasmeen, Jared, Amanda, David and James; and a multitude of other loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Deirdre Barfield for her kind and compassionate care.
