Herbert Ray Wallis, 80, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his grandson's home in Weatherford. He was met by his Lord and Savior, whom he knew so well and wanted all he came in contact with to know his Savior as he and his family does.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Castleberry Baptist Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Herbert was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Weatherford to Herbert Duff and Mary Ellen Wallis. He and his wife, Madge, have lived in River Oaks since 1954 and have been members of Castleberry Baptist Church for 54 years.
Herbert was in banking for 30 years until he retired at age 55.
They started traveling all over the United States, but always had time to go to the East Fork Campground at Pagosa Springs, Colo., to be camp hosts from May to September to be with friends and family.
He was a beloved husband and Christian daddy to his family.
Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Madge Wallis of River Oaks; son, Mike Wallis and wife, Cathy, of Cedar Hill; daughter, Candi Wiley and husband, Pastor Mike, of Weatherford; grandsons, Derek Wiley and wife, Jimmie, of Weatherford and Jason Wallis and wife, Nicole, of Justin; granddaughters, Brandi Wallis of Keller and Kim Brabson and husband, Chris, of Weatherford; 11 great-grandchildren; and three of his 12 siblings, Katherine Ellis, Duffy Lee and Bobby Wallis.
