Obituary in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, February 14, 1994:

Gardner: Duane A. LaDeau, 58, of 58 Regan St., formerly of Winchendon, a longtime officer in the American Legion, died yesterday in Heywood Hospital after a long illness.

he leaves his wife of 37 years, Rachel A. (Mailloux) LaDeau; a son, Michael K. LaDeau of Gardner, two daughters, Darlene R. Peckham of Winchendon and Rollande A. Phillips of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Alice L. Betourney of Winchendon; a half-sister, Adeline Bobbitt of Orlando, Fla; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. he was born in Winchendon, son of Lewis C. and Lillian A. (Westcott) LaDeau, and lived there most of his life before moving to Gardner 10 years ago. Mr. LaDeau was a meat cutter at DeMoulas Market Basket in Fitchburg for 10 years. He was previously a meat cutter for 29 years at the former First National Stores.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. LaDeau was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and a former communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Winchendon. He was a member and past president of the Winchendon Rod & Gun Club. Mr. LaDeau was a senior vice commander and past commander of Eugene M. Connor Post 193, American Legion, Winchendon; and past sub-district commander of teh American Legion. He was senior vice commander and past commander of Old 300 Voiture, 40 & 8. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Winchendon and Ovila Case Post 905, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The funeral will be held Thursday from Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., Winchendon, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetary, Winchendon. Calling hours at the funeral home ar 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Flowers may be sent, or contributions made to the Heywood Hospital Memorial Fund, 242 Green St., Gardner, 01440.
