Married 06 OCT 1901 in Clay County, Alabama, to Ester A. JOHNSON. Farmer. Father.

Per Alabama Death Index; Calop Alex GALLOPS, married White male (wife India Ester JOHNSON), son of Calop GALLOPS & Nancy COOKSEY [who married ], died 16 SEP 1948, aged 71 years, in Hollins, Clay County, Alabama; interred 18 SEP 1948 in Valley Grove, per Family History Library film entry #1908832.

Although Caleb Alex's Social Security file shows his mother was Nancy COOKSEY, it seems clear from the record that he is the son of Caleb B. & Nancy J. (CARDEN) GALLOPS, who married 25 NOV 1868 in Russell County, Alabama. He appears with them on the 1880 census of Brownville, and the 1900 census of Hollins, both in Clay County, Alabama. COOKSEY is perhaps the maiden name of Caleb B.'s mother (Caleb Alex's paternal grandmother) instead. Note that John GALLUPS married 25 APR 1843 in Muscogee County, Georgia, to Mary COOKSEY; also, Robert GALLOPS married 19 JAN 1847 in Russell County, Alabama, to Elizabeth COOKSEY.

Brother: Lorenza D. GALLOPS, who was probably named for famed theologian and itinerant preacher Lorenzo DOW
