Vi married Norman Petty in 1948 after having attended college in Norman, Oklahoma. She was an accomplished pianist and, as Norman could not read music, she would write the musical notes for his compositions. She was also a part of the Norman Petty Trio and later on provided the celeste that is heard on "Every Day" by Buddy Holly. After Norman's death in 1984 in she worked hard to keep his music alive and to honor his accomplishments. The Norman Petty Studios on 7th Street in Clovis had been preserved by her and kept in its original condition. She was a wonderful, talented and kind woman who is sorely missed by those who knew her. She always shined the light on Norman's accomplishments overlooking her own - what a gifted lady she was. If you ever get a chance to hear her performance of "Claire de lune" - do - it is amazing.
