Son of the late Samuel Kelly Hodges and Helen Elizabeth Tyler Hodges, he was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He attended Maple Baptist Church. He was survived by one sister, Mrs. Ida Mae Baker (Gaius), of Holly Hill, SC; one nephew; two nieces; and an extended family of relatives. His funeral was held July 4, 2008, with The Rev. Gary Reeves and The Rev. Gaius Baker officiating.
