Merman Lee Mitchem was a son of Robert Lee Mitchem and Katie Houser Mitchem of Bessemer City, Gaston County, NC. He was married first to Dorothy Sue Cooper, and secondly to the former Sherry Brown. He had two sons; two daughters; and one stepson:
1. Larry Dean Mitchem, Lake Wylie, SC (b. 6/14/1962);
2. Randall Lee Mitchem, Lake Wylie, SC (b. 6/3/1964);
3. Debbie Mitchem Morgan, Lake Wylie, SC; and
4. Tonya Mitchem Freeman, Rock Hill, SC; and
5. A stepson, Jimmy Lingerfeldt of the home.
He was also survived by two brothers: Roy Mitchem of Bessemer city, NC and Dennis Mitchem of Dallas, NC; two sisters, Ruth Mitchem Barnette and Sue Mitchem Lewis of Dallas, NC; and two grandchildren.
He made his home at 301 North Main Street, Clover, SC.
