Ellis -- Joseph A. Bieker, 70, 420 W. 27th St., Hays, died Monday at St. Anthony Hospital. Born in Schoenchen on Mar. 27, 1903.

Until moving to Hays in March he spent most of his life in Ellis where he was a section worker for the Union Pacific.

Bieker is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; two sons, Robert, Omaha, Neb., and Donald, Glasco; six daughters, Mrs. Eileen Arhold and Mrs. Viola Billinger, both of Hays, Mrs. Mary Goetz, Pittsburg, Mrs. JoAnne Gulmond, Aberdeen, Maryland, Mrs. Marlaine Trenery, Lockwood, Calif., and Lillian Bieker, of the home; 35 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Pete and Jake, Commerce City, Colo., Frank, Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Billinger, Commerce City, Colo., Mrs. Anna Rupp, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Emma Riedel, Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, Ellis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Johnson Funeral Home, Ellis, from 8 p.m. Tuesday until service time Thursday.
