Born March 3, 1938, to Richard and Mamie Belle Wallace Carroll, he died July 2, 2008 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Frankie Mae Watson and Imogene "Jean" Carroll; and two brothers, J. R. and Billy Frank Carroll.
A 30-year resident of Lone Grove, he had lived in this area all of his life. He and Nancy D. Pennell were married April 7, 1978, at Dallas.
He had been a truck driver for many years before becoming the owner of the Carroll Backhoe Service and then the current owner of Lone Grove Liquor Store. For many years he played bass and rhythm guitar in a band, and was the lead vocalist. The pastimes he enjoyed most were playing and listening to music, fishing, playing poker and being with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, of home; two daughters, Charlotte Ann Cobb, Duncan, and Joletha Jean Cobb, Wilson; two sons, Shawn Joe Carroll, Duncan, and "Bo" Billy Joel Carroll, Lone Grove; a brother, Bobby Lee Carroll, Healdton; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation and support will be 2-4 p..m. today at the funeral home.
