Harold Donnally was my husband's uncle (my mother in law's only brother). Although I never had the chance to meet Uncle Harold, from the stories I've heard from the family, he was a wonderful man. Raised among five sisters who adored him, Harold was the second of the Donnally's called Home to God too soon. Uncle Harold was out mowing his lawn on a steamy southern afternoon as his young sons looked on. He simply laid down on the green grass and died. Cause of death was a massive heart attack. The following was copied from the Charleston Post and Courier:

Harold Garvin Donnally, 41, of John's Island died yesterday, August 1, 1968. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens, directed by Stuhr's.

Mr. Donnally was born on June 14, 1927 in Cunard, West Virginia to Greenleaf Whittier Donnally and Hazel Ellen Clingham Donnally. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are: his widow Ruby Rollins Donnally of John's Island; his daughter Linda and sons Wayne and Dennis all of John's Island; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hughes and Mrs. Elizabeth Harvill of Charleston, and Mrs. Lois Britt and Mrs. Edith Aldridge of North Charleston.
