Gilmer -- Funeral services for James Harvey Greer, 71, of Big Sandy are set at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Shady Grove Church of Christ with Harvey Arnold, Church of Christ clergyman, officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home.
Mr. Greer died Friday morning at his home after a short illness. He was a native of Gonzales County, and had resided in this area the past 30 years. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Ellen Greer; a son, James Harvey Greer, Jr. of Matthews, N. C.; four daughters, Mrs. Mateline Greer of Ft. Stockton; Mrs. Juanita Whitlock of Big Sandy; Mrs. Aquilla Phelps of Sherman; and Mrs. Margaret Starr of Tyler; a brother, Dave Greer of Shaftor, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Zella Martin of Temple and Mrs. Minnie Belle Cummins of San Benito, Calif., and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Morris McWhorter, Leo McWhorter, S.J. Blackstone, Herman McWhorter, Troy Snow, Jennings Whitter.
