He had lived in Orange before retiring from DuPont as an operator in 1985 when he moved to Pineland.
He was survived by his wife, Ann Hughes, two sons; Raymond Hughes and Robert Hughes; four daughters; Matilda Sonnier, Liz Bilbo, Beverly Jordan and Ginger Siever; two brothers; Joe Hughes and Bobby Hughes; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Hughes.
