Malisia was preceded in death by her husband, William Hamilton Fitch, who died on 8 Dec 1917 in Hardin, Marshall County, Kentucky. After he died, Malisia went to live with her daughter, Anne in Arkansas. She passed away on 12 Feb 1925 in Lake City, Craighead County, Arkansas. She is buried along side her husband, William in Wadesboro Cemetery located in Marshall County, Kentucky.

The inscription on their headstone reads: "To live in hearts we leave behind ________is not to die."
