W. E. Burney held at Trickham Saturday Funeral services were held at the Trickham Union Church on Saturday, October, 9, at 2:00 p. m. for W. E. (Bill): Burney, Coleman County Treasurer, who died on Thursday, October, 10th. at 5:30 p. m. m the, Santa Anna Hospital; He had suffered a heart attack at noon on Wednesday. Rev Howell Martin of Trickham, and Rev. H. G. Verner of Santa Anna, officiated at the services.

Mr. Burney was born in the Trickham Community September 8, 1914, being 40 years and 29 days old at the time of death. He was a member of .the Baptist Church. Burney was serving his- fourth term as County Treasurer and had received the Democratic nomination during the August Primary for a fifth term. His election would have been on November 2, at the General election.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Charlotte Burney one son Willis Weldon Burney, three step-sons, Charles Edward, Stephen Wayne, and John Herschel Hogue, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Burney of Trickham, two brothers, I. L. Burney of Pueblo, Colorado, and Jesse L. Burney of San Marcos, one sister, Mrs. Mary V. Cummings of Pueblo, Colo. One brother, Willis Burney, was killed in action at Pearl Harbor soon after the beginning of World War H. Pall bearers were Rankin McIver, Buck Mitchell, Harold; James, Lee Craig,. Tom Kingsbery and Charles Wristen.
