Sarah Green was born in Columbia, NY on July 20, 1824. Her parents died while she was quite young. Her marriage to Mr. Sickmon was solemnized in Hamburg, NY on September 1, 1840 and a few years later they came west to Illinois. She claimed a resident in the state for 66 years, many of which were spent on the Sickmon farm just east of the city. Mr. Sickmon retired from farming some years ago and died in this city on May 28, 1903 (I have 1908).
Six children were born to the union, four of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Susan Norcross of Beatrice, NE, Mrs. Anna Frantz of Yuma, CO, Mrs. Eliza Kettering and Charles Sickmon of this city. Mrs. Sally Regnier of Regnier, NE (s/b Regnier, CO) and Winfield Sickmon of Des Moines have been dead for some years. There are twenty grandchildren also living.
The funeral services will be held Monday morning at the family home. The two children living out of town will be here at the time. Rev. D. E. Hughes will be in charge and interment will be made in the Monmouth Cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased: Edwin, Roy, George and Ray Kettering and George and Glenn Sickmon.
