Mickey was born July 20, 1951, son of Helen Potoniec Wells of Jupiter, FL., formerly of Seymour, and the late Lewis Wells, Jr. He is survived by his three sons, Michael and Nicole Wells of Moodus, Robert and Lisa Wells of Cromwell and Daniel Wells of New Haven; and his sister, Marcia Azoy of Jupiter, FL. Mickey was raised in Seymour and attended Seymour Public Schools. He was a 1969 graduate of Kolbe High School in Bridgeport and attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. While residing in Connecticut, he was employed as a meat manager with Stop & Shop, working in the Clinton and Old Saybrooks stores. In Florida, he was employed as a construction supervisor in New Smyrna Beach, FL. prior to his illness. He was very active with the Westbrook Elks Lodge as well as the Daytona Beach Elks Lodge where he was a Past Exalted Ruler of the lodge. He received numerous awards for his charity work. Mickey, with his large heart, will always be remembered for talking about his four loves, his three sons and his boat.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Avenue in Hamden.
Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 6 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford.
